The cohesion of colours and cuts with sharp, metallic vibes were beautiful to look at. This collection walking before us in punk-alien shimmers and leathers is every cool girls dream for the summer months. However, there weren’t just extreme, dramatic cuts in LV’s Paris show, we saw some effortless gowns with simple zipped backs. Strength and fragility was balanced as LV revealed ruffled Victoriana cottons, Edwardian collars, metal zippers and lustrous knits that incorporated the digital era we live in. Ghesquiere’s collision of tradition and modernity allowed him to temper with androgyny pairing masculine waistcoats with chiffon high collars and suit trousers for a gorgeous feminine portrait.
The make up and hair had a strong 90s feel with the sleek, slim braids and rough strands alongside the dark, clustered, lower lashes which also added to the alien-robot theme that this collection went for. Not to mention the anime-manga head bands and stand-out cuff gloves. The smooth leather knuckle dusters and chunky platform black shoes finished the bad-girl, tough vibe – the models strutted like boxers. As for the glossy, small leather clutches, what could be better for an everyday chic touch to any outfit, in the office and out? Louis Vuitton have a reputation for their bags, and this season revealed beautiful, innovative, almost steampunk styles to die for.
This collection truly was a journey like the narrator who led us through the show. If you missed it check out the highlights here: http://vuitton.lv/1hyASwO
There were so many amazing outfits to look at but what was your favourite from the LV SS16 showcase? Ours definitely has to be the discoball dress that shimmered down the catwalk like a videogame.By Annie Mirza
